Matt spoke to Variety about the season 36 finale of the series and explained what Marge’s death in the episode really means for the future of The Simpsons.
According to the producer, the finale episode was a fantasy of the future when Marge does die and that in the present day, the Simpson family mom is still alive. He told Variety, “Marge will probably never be dead ever again. The only place Marge is dead is in one future episode that aired six weeks ago.”
He also told the publication that Marge’s death in that one future episode didn’t necessarily mean that was how things would play out in the cartoon’s future.
Matt said, “The Simpsons’ doesn’t even have canon!”
