Lizzo is opening up about her weight loss transformation.
Since 2023, the 37-year-old “Truth Hurts” singer has been documenting her weight loss and fitness journey for fans on social media.
In a new interview, Lizzo admitted that she did in fact try Ozempic and other GLP-1 drugs — a class of drugs primarily used to manage type 2 diabetes and obesity – before deciding that the method wasn’t the most effective way for her to achieve her weight loss goals.
Keep reading to find out more…“I tried everything,” Lizzo told host Trisha Paytas on the Just Trish podcast before explaining why she stopped using GLP-1 medications early in journey.
“Ozempic works because you eat less food, yeah?” she continued. “So if you eat right, it makes you feel full. But if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it’s the same thing.”
Lizzo‘s Ozempic admission comes nearly after she denied speculation that she was using the drug back in September 2024.
Lizzo then revealed that she only started seeing the results she wanted was when she started meat after years of being vegan.
“What did it for me is, it was not being vegan,” the Grammy winner explained. “Because when I was vegan, I was consuming a lot of fake meats, I was eating a lot of bread, I was eating a lot of rice and I had to eat a lot of it to stay full.”
She went on to say that adding meat back into her diet allowed her to easily consume products that contained less “fake sugar and weird stuff.”
“When I started actually eating whole foods and eating, like, beef and chicken and fish, I was actually full and not expanding my stomach by putting a lot of fake things in there that wasn’t actually filling me up,” Lizzo said.
Also in the interview, Lizzo urged critics to stop looking at people using Ozempic and other weight loss drugs as “cheating.
“It’s not easy. It’s a drug to help somebody with something they’re struggling with,” she explained. “I think people—it’s their way of being fat phobic when you’re telling someone they’re cheating.”
In another recent interview, Lizzo addressed being “canceled a lot” following her legal woes.
