Kristin Cavallari is opening up about cutting ties with her father Dennis.
The 38-year-old reality star and jewelry designer has had an up and down relationship with her dad in the past, before she fully cut him out of her and her kids’ lives.
In a new interview, she recalls he “crossed a boundary” with the children, and she says cutting him out was the “best decision.”

“I mean, honestly, and this might sound messed up to some people, but it’s the best decision I’ve ever made, cutting my dad out of my life. Such a weight has been lifted from me,” she told People. “There’s not one day where I miss him. I don’t know if it was two or three years ago, but I mean, I was an adult, let’s say I was 35 [when I decided]. It was 35 years of buildup to that point.”
Kristin adds she’s happy with her decision and it “was something that I had been wanting to do for a long time,” and she even said he “couldn’t even apologize” for what happened.
“Like, you’re just gaslighting me. I don’t have time for that anymore,” she said. “If someone’s not bringing you joy, if people are only bringing you hurt and sadness and anger, what is the point? Even if it’s a parent, life’s too short.”
Kristin is returning to reality TV this week with her new show Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour on E!, which will follow her as she goes out on her first podcast tour and will take a look at her “off the stage as she explores local hot spots in each city with her friends and podcast guests.”
Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour is set to debut on Wednesday (June 4) at 10pm ET/PT on E! with two back-to-back, half-hour episodes.
