Scooter Braun is speaking out after Taylor Swift bought back her music.
Taylor‘s feud with Scooter started in 2019 when the music mogul’s company Ithaca Holdings acquired her former record label Big Machine, which included the master recordings for her first six albums. At the time, Taylor said that she was not given a fair opportunity to buy the music herself.
Ithaca sold Taylor‘s catalog to Shamrock Capital in 2020 for a reported $300 million and that company just sold the music right back to Taylor, though the amount is unknown as of this time.
Taylor announced the news in an open letter to fans, saying, “I will be forever grateful to everyone at Shamrock Capital for being the first people to ever offer this to me. The way they’ve handled every interaction we’ve had has been honest, fair, and respectful. This was a business deal to them, but I really felt like they saw it for what it was to me: My memories and my sweat and my handwriting and my decades of dreams.”
Taylor even joked that she might get a shamrock tattooed on her forehead because she’s so grateful!
Now, Scooter is speaking out with his reaction to the news.

Scooter simply told THR that he’s “happy for her.”
Back in 2019, Taylor slammed Scooter while reacting to the sale of her music.
“I learned about Scooter Braun’s purchase of my masters as it was announced to the world. All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years,” she said back then. “Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy… Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.”
The future of Taylor‘s final two re-recordings – Reputation and Taylor Swift – are currently unknown, but she says she’s willing to still release them if fans want them. And we know they do!
All of the fan theories about Reputation are clearly wrong though, as she says the re-recording is not yet finished.
