Lorde has dropped her new single “Man of the Year” along with a revealing music video.
The 28-year-old singer will feature the new single on her upcoming album Virgin, which is scheduled to be released on June 27. This is the second single off Lorde‘s new album following “What Was That.”
Lorde‘s label says that her new music “promises a bold sonic evolution, balancing maximalist production with the artist’s signature lyrical intimacy.”
Lorde‘s look at the Met Gala teased the new song and its video.
“An offering from really deep inside me. The song I’m proudest of on Virgin,” Lorde said about the track.
Lorde recently revealed how her “broadened” gender identity inspired the new song and she opened up in depth about that process in a published conversation with Chappell Roan.

Lorde sings on the track, “Who’s gon’ love me like this? / Oh-oh, oh, who could give me lightness / Let it flow down to me / Love me like this / Now I’m broken open?”
