The movie’s five-day total is still much less than previous Thanksgiving releases from the studio, including Frozen II in 2019 ($123.7 million), Ralph Breaks the Internet in 2018 ($84.6 million) and Coco in 2017 ($71 million).

However, it’s still the best opening weekend for an animated film during the pandemic!

The film tells the tale of the Madrigals, an extraordinary family who live in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. Each child has been blessed with a magic gift unique to them—each child except Mirabel (Stephanie Beatriz). But when the family’s home is threatened, Mirabel may be their only hope.

Encanto features new songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda!
